I loved this, especially the notebook part, it is so present and real. I also love the idea that you are questioning the parts of you that travel with you and the bits you leave behind. Thank you for sharing. Xx
Ooft, your journalling is exquisite! Read this gorgeous piece this morning and then felt compelled to revisit my own travels. Thank you for inspiring me.๐งก
This is such a lovely piece. It evokes a feeling of disconnection I can have when I sometimes get what I've been longing for - sunshine and time are all very well - but if we don't feel rooted, or grounded - we can't be with the time or the sunshine. I get that the birds were a connection with something for you in a strange and different land, where you were at home and not at home. So raw and emotional - beautiful - thank you. I'm writing this whilst the rain has turned to hail - It was bitter-sweet to be reminded that the clear sky is there behind those clouds.
Another enjoyable piece from you Lynne - a different style from perhaps more inwardly reflective previous posts Iโve read and I can so relate to this. Went to Seville last April and the first thing that struck me were the birds: swallows and swifts on their migration back north, and the brightly coloured parakeets that had us squealing and pointing with embarrassing visibility. Lovely read, Lynne, as always.
Loved reading this Lynne. I really resonated with the disorientation from my early days travelling last autumn. How that never really has a chance to abate on a short trip, I guess. And I adored that middle italicised passage from your notebook!! Xx

Iโve always wanted to go there. Thanks for bringing us there with your words.
